Double Standards

Randy, if you’re going to cry and whine on your blog about people making fun of you, why would you turn around and do it to someone else?   Oh, I get it, it’s ok because that person is a public figure, right?  That’s funny, because the moment you put your picture online and started your own blog YOU became a public figure as well.  All this is beside the fact that these pictures are some of the most racist I have seen in a long time.

This isn’t the whole post, but a piece of it so people can get an idea of what the original looked like after the Journal people delete it and kick Randy off their site.

Randy, you should change “Ultra-Conservative” to “Ultra-RACIST” in the description of yourself.

Zach over at Blogging Blue has a great post on this as well.

I’m Flattered

Today I received an invite from Greg Kowalski to post on Metro Milwaukee Today.  When I first started this blog, I received a request from the Journal to post on Cudahy Now.  I was seriously considering it until I saw how they treat their contributors.  I’m not going to blog for anyone that censors my posts.  Anyway, thanks again Greg and I will do my best to adhere to the high standard you and Zach have established on Metro Milwaukee Today.

What a No Vote on the SportSite Extension Really Means

Randy failed to mention in his post about the common council meeting that the City of Cudahy now has the option to start foreclosure on the Iceport land.  I’m not saying this is what will happen for sure, but I think there is a distinct possibility that it will happen.  Right now, this would be the best outcome.  The city would have the land back and could look for a respectable company to build on it that would actually create real jobs rather than jobs with terrible benefits that keep people in poverty.

Another Example of Wal-Mart’s Great Labor Practices

I know Randy is trying to deflect everyone’s attention from Wal-Mart by posting info on how bad it is at the Cheesecake Factory.  I’d care if Continental and SportSite were trying to build a Cheesecake Factory in Cudahy.  Unfortunately, they’re not.

Metro Milwaukee Today alerted me to a pending case in Minnesota where Wal-Mart could be fined up to $2 billion.  Yes that’s B-I-L-L-I-O-N.  They have apparently been neglecting to give people their full breaks and have also not been paying people for training.  Is this really a corporation we want in Cudahy?  I don’t think so.  These types of practices are appalling and inexcusable.  I know they will use their expensive legal team to get out of it, but it’s still nice to dream.

Catching Up

I just wanted to let everyone know I am still here, but have been busy.  I have a couple of posts in mind that will be going up over the next couple of days.  Hope you all had a great 4th of July.  The Cudahy fireworks were the best I have ever watched.

Voice Your Opinion Against the Recall

Anyone interested in voicing their opinion against the recall of Mayor Ryan McCue can email Sue Hoyt-Majewski at -

spurple9bear@att.net

Her email address was posted in this entry on Randy’s blog.  I have also setup nocudahywalmart@gmail.com if anyone wants to email me directly instead of posting comments on this site.

Definition of “Astroturfing”

Since the Cudahy blogsphere is hot on astroturf today, I figured I’d give everyone another definition of the term.  From Wikipedia -

“Astroturfing in American English is a neologism for formal public relations campaigns in politics and advertising which seek to create the impression of being spontaneous, grassroots behavior, hence the reference to the artificial grass AstroTurf.”

This practice has been used by Wal-Mart heavily in the past to make it seem like they have a lot more support in a community than they actually do.  In fact, they even started a pro Wal-Mart group called “Working Families for Wal-Mart”.  The group’s blog was run by Wal-Mart’s public relations firm, but there was never any reference to the fact that it was all a big scam funded by Wal-Mart.

Randy, I just want to say thanks for giving me the inspiration to write an educational post on a term a lot of people might not know.  Your journalistic prowess has not gone unnoticed.  If you’re still logged in to your blogging software, can you please take a second to “update” the public on who you and Sue Hoyt voted for in the last mayoral election?

The Great Tax Dodge [via Wal-Mart Watch]

Here is an excellent document from Wal-Mart Watch on what Wal-Mart does to get out of paying taxes -

It contradicts what Hollenbeck and his ill informed buddies would have us all believe.

Cudahy’s Pet Turtle

Randy Hollenbeck seems to be turning into a turtle, only poking his head out when he thinks the coast is clear and nobody is watching.  It’s unfortunate he turned off comments on his blog, citing things like “sockpuppeting”, which is the act of posting under a different name.  It’s also ironic, because word on the street is that he has done it in the past.  Now if anyone wants to comment, they have to email him directly for approval on the comment and if he approves he will post it.  What a joke.  You can’t put yourself out in the public eye if you’re going to be shallow and worried about what people are gonna say about you or if they’re going to say something you don’t like.

Comments will NEVER be closed or moderated on this site.  I’m not afraid of what people have to say.  In fact, I welcome comments and urge anyone who used to post on Randy’s blog to come over here.

Definition of libel

Since the topic of sockpuppeting and misrepresentation has been coming up as of late, I figured I’d help everyone out with a definition I found on dictionary.com. Todays word is libel. My favorite definition of the term is:

Anything that is defamatory or that maliciously or damagingly misrepresents.
